Homeboard Privacy Policy
Last updated October 12, 2026
Homeboard is a family calendar and dashboard for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It is built to keep your family's
information in your own Apple accounts. We do not run servers that store your data, we do not sell or
share data, and the app contains no ads, analytics or tracking.
Where your data is stored
- On your devices. People, calendar assignments, notes, contacts you save in the app and settings
are stored on your device.
- In iCloud. To sync between family members, this information is stored in your iCloud account
using Apple's CloudKit and shared only with the family members you invite. The developer cannot read it.
Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Family code. When you create a family, a short join code and the iCloud share link it points to
are stored in the app's public CloudKit database so invited members can join. It contains no names or events.
Information the app uses, with your permission
- Calendars to show events on the board. Events from calendars you choose to "Share with Family"
are synced to your family through iCloud. Homeboard can add events (including drive reminders) to your calendars.
- Reminders to show and update to-do and grocery lists.
- Contacts to fill in birthdays and phone numbers and to choose drivers and emergency contacts.
Only the contacts you pick are saved and synced to your family.
- Photos to show the albums you choose as a screensaver. Photos never leave your device.
- Location to show the local weather and estimate drive times to events.
- Notifications for event and leave-by alerts.
You can change any of these permissions at any time in your device's Settings.
Third-party services
- Weather: your approximate location (latitude and longitude) is sent to
Open-Meteo to get the forecast. No account or identifier is sent.
- Drive times: event addresses and your location are sent to Apple Maps to estimate travel time.
- Calendar feeds: team or school calendar links you add are downloaded directly from the
website that hosts them.
Children
Parents can add children to their family and manage their calendars. Homeboard does not collect information
from children for the developer; children's information stays in the family's own iCloud.
Deleting your data
In the app, Settings → Reset lets you leave the family or delete the family from iCloud for everyone.
Deleting the app removes its data from your device. You can also manage iCloud data in your device's iCloud settings.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
